Delhi, the Taj Mahal and Jaipur: an introduction to the architecture and history of North India.

India · The Golden Triangle

The journey’s concept

Based on the Golden Triangle: Delhi, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri and Jaipur. Jaipur is already in Rajasthan; a longer extension through the state can be added as a separate section when time allows. Cities and duration of the calendar variant are refined during costing.

Three cities reveal different sides of North India: the capital Delhi, marble Agra and Jaipur with its palaces. Along the way, the urban rhythm, the colour of the stone and the scale of the monuments change. This compact introduction can be extended with meetings, talks or further travel.

The programme centres on the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and the journey through Fatehpur Sikri. In Delhi we explore several architectural and religious traditions; Jaipur concludes the cultural itinerary before our return to the capital.

THREE REASONS TO CHOOSE THIS ROUTE

What makes this journey special

01

The Taj Mahal and Agra Fort

Two architectural stories of Agra: the white marble of the mausoleum and the mighty walls of the fortress. We choose visiting times that allow the group to examine the details rather than leave with just a panoramic photograph.

02

Fatehpur Sikri on the way to Jaipur

This stop makes the transfer part of the experience. Palace courtyards and passages help us imagine how the imperial city functioned; we also explore the history of Salim Chishti's shrine.

03

Different perspectives on Delhi

Qutub Minar, India Gate, Connaught Place and temple complexes offer several perspectives on the capital. We select visits to suit the group's interests and the actual opening schedules.

THE ROUTE

Delhi — Agra — Jaipur — Delhi

PLACES AND EXPERIENCES

Proposed itinerary

The stages below outline a possible route rather than a confirmed departure schedule. Duration, transfers and visits are adapted to the chosen period and the group’s interests.

Airport welcome and check-in. Depending on arrival time, we begin exploring the capital: Qutub Minar, India Gate and Connaught Place. The Lotus Temple and Akshardham can be included in the agreed sightseeing programme. We allow time to rest after the journey.

Transfer to Agra. We visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, exploring stone carving, interior spaces and views across the city. The guide places the monuments in the history of the Mughal Empire. We spend the evening in Agra.

After breakfast we leave for Jaipur. En route we explore Fatehpur Sikri and Salim Chishti's shrine, a substantial cultural stop between two major cities. We then continue to Jaipur and check in.

A sightseeing day in Jaipur explores the city's architecture, palace heritage and everyday urban life. We agree the detailed list of sites in advance. Afterwards we return to Delhi; an extra night in Jaipur and an extended itinerary are possible on request.

Time before departure depends on the group's flight. We arrange the agreed airport transfer or onward travel: other cities in Rajasthan, a pilgrimage extension or a stay in Goa are priced separately. This page describes the basic three-city itinerary.

Practical notes and preparation

  • The basic itinerary takes five days; the number of nights and first sightseeing day depend on international flights.
  • The itinerary combines road transfers and walking visits to monuments. We adapt walking times to the group.
  • Admission tickets and visiting times for the Taj Mahal and temple complexes are clarified before programme confirmation.
  • Choose a focus on architecture, history or religious traditions, and add time for your own group leader's programme.
