Nectar of Life in the Himalayas

The illuminated Golden Temple reflects in Amritsar's water; Dharamshala brings Tibetan monasteries and craft workshops, while the Kullu Valley introduces the Roerich legacy. One journey explores Sikh, Buddhist and Hindu traditions through places and everyday life.

The programme links towns in Punjab and Himachal, Lake Rewalsar, Naggar and the mountains around Manali. Alongside monasteries and temples, there is time for villages, local markets and landscapes. A historical programme in Delhi completes the journey.

Who this programme is for

For communities interested in the religious traditions, culture and natural landscapes of the Himalayas.

What makes this journey special

Amritsar and Goindwal

The light of the Golden Temple above the water and the sacred Baoli well reveal different aspects of Sikh tradition. We explore the architecture and learn about daily life at pilgrimage sites.

Dharamshala's Tibetan culture

McLeod Ganj and the Norbulingka Institute bring temple life and art together: spaces of prayer, crafts and cultural preservation. Visits depend on the communities' schedules.

The Roerichs and the living Kullu Valley

Naggar brings together the Roerich estate, the Urusvati Institute and walks through neighbouring villages. A day to discuss art, research and everyday Himalayan culture.

Detailed itinerary

Explore the day-by-day programme below. Open any section for details. Dates, pace and visits are agreed for your group.

After arriving in Delhi, we take a domestic flight to Amritsar. We check in and visit the Golden Temple. Evening illumination, reflections and the movement of pilgrims create the first vivid impression; we coordinate the visit with the group's flights.

We travel to Goindwal, associated with the history of Sikh teachers, to explore the sacred Baoli well and its pilgrimage tradition. With our guide we discuss how a gurdwara works, visitor etiquette and the role of pilgrimage in community life.

Moving from the Punjab plains to mountainous Himachal changes the character of the journey. After check-in we explore Dharamshala and its Tibetan market: fabrics, handicrafts and urban life. We allow for travel time and necessary rest.

We visit temple spaces in McLeod Ganj associated with the Dalai Lama's residence and explore Tibetan Buddhism. At the Norbulingka Institute, art and crafts continue the cultural conversation. Access to individual spaces and activities depends on availability during the group's visit.

The road passes temple centres in Himachal: Baijnath, Chamunda Devi, Triloknath and Mahamrityunjaya form the basis of our visits. We explore architecture and local traditions. The order and scope of stops are clarified when planning the transfer.

We explore the lake and nearby monasteries, including the traditions of Tso Pema and Drikung Kagyu. Rewalsar is revered by several religious communities, showing how different traditions coexist around one place.

In the Kullu Valley we visit the Roerich estate and the Urusvati Institute grounds. The discussion of art and research acquires a tangible setting: house, garden and mountain views. We allow time for conversation and a walk around Naggar.

We explore the surroundings of Manali. An excursion to Rohtang Pass, with a possible continuation towards Sonapani Glacier, is included only when weather, roads and permits allow. The specific mountain-day option is confirmed separately.

Rumsu, Pullang and the Krishna Temple reveal everyday valley culture. Village walks, local life and crafts complement the major shrines. We choose walking pace and distance to suit the group's abilities.

After the mountains we return to the capital. The programme includes Qutub Minar, Lakshmi Narayan Temple, India Gate and an evening at Akshardham. The day's schedule is agreed around transfer times, opening hours and ticket availability.

An airport transfer concludes the itinerary. If the group wants more time in the mountains or another day in the capital, we adjust the duration before booking. Flights and accommodation are confirmed in the individual proposal.
