Mysterious Siberia: seven days in Altai

Manzherok, Chemal and Lake Teletskoye: a first encounter with Altai’s mountains, rivers and living traditions.

Example: 7 days · private group · dates on request

Novosibirsk — Manzherok — Chemal — Lake Teletskoye — Yaylyu

Lake Teletskoye: water and taiga

A journey with substance

In seven days, Altai changes from the first mountain views around Manzherok to the water and taiga of Lake Teletskoye. Along the way are the Katun, caves, Chemal and the reserve village of Yaylyu. A cultural introduction in Novosibirsk connects the landscapes with Siberia’s history and artistic imagination; then the road and life beside the water take centre stage.

This is an itinerary concept on request, not a confirmed departure. Hotels, guides, transport, visits, price and the final service list are confirmed for each group.

Three threads of the journey

Altai in several landscapes

Malaya Sinyukha, rocks above the Katun and waterfall walks offer different ways to read the mountain landscape.

Lake Teletskoye from the water

A boat journey reveals forested shores and waterfalls. Actual stops depend on weather and protected-area rules.

Yaylyu and local traditions

The reserve village and Tubalar culture add people’s stories to the panoramic views. Meetings require local agreement.

Who this journey is for

For international cultural, nature and community groups. Walking, language and accommodation are tailored to the actual travellers.

The square and opera theatre reveal the scale of a Siberian city. City and museum visits are matched to arrival times and the road ahead.

Manzherok: the first mountain perspectives

The view from the ski station introduces the transition from Siberia’s plains to Altai’s mountains. A cable-car ascent depends on operations and weather.

The Katun and Patmos: a river shaping the route
The Katun and Patmos: a river shaping the route

Turquoise water, rocky banks and the church on Patmos connect Chemal’s landscape and cultural story. Walks are chosen around participants’ abilities.

Long, forested shores change the journey’s character. A boat day and waterfall stops depend on weather and the area’s rules.

From Yaylyu, the lake is experienced through its close shore and village life. Access and local encounters are agreed with the hosts.

The itinerary in detail

The overnight sequence is agreed with the route and the group’s flights. Any additional night before an international flight is quoted separately.

Open a day for details. The order of visits is refined when your journey is planned.

Arrive at Tolmachevo and settle in. Depending on arrival time and opening hours, consider the Sun Museum, the Nicholas Roerich Museum and the Ascension Cathedral.

Travel towards Altai’s mountains. After checking in, ascend for views from Malaya Sinyukha if the cable car is operating and weather allows.

Explore the Tavdinsky caves, Dragon’s Teeth rocks, Kamyshlinsky waterfall and the Patmos area. The sequence and any time on the water are adjusted to conditions and the available day.

Oroktoy Bridge, Katun panoramas and the Che-Chkysh valley form the first part of the day. Continue towards Artybash and the lakeshore.

A boat day on Lake Teletskoye, with Kishte, Ayu-Kechpes, Korbu and Choodor as proposed stops. The actual selection is confirmed for each outing.

Visit the reserve village and learn about local culture and an Altai ail. Meetings and any blessing ceremony take place only by agreement with the hosts and are optional.

Return towards Novosibirsk. The Anokhin Museum or extra walks are possible only if time permits. Match flights carefully to the long drive; an additional night before an international departure can be arranged separately.

One route, shaped by your interests

A cultural group

Build the journey around architecture, museums, crafts, food and conversations with local people. Special encounters are arranged after agreement.

A community and its own host

Allow room for a thematic meeting or a session led by your own host. Venue, interpreting and content are included in the planning process.

A private or family group

Adjust walking, service, accommodation and breaks to the travellers. Suitable arrangements for children or reduced mobility are checked separately.

Pace, season and comfort

When to travel

Check the season, roads, protected-area access, walking conditions and water outings for the actual dates. Mountain weather can require changes.

Where to stay

Select accommodation with the group. Mountain bases and rural stays may differ substantially from city hotels; facilities, bathrooms, heating and room arrangements must be confirmed before booking.

Activity level

Allow for long road journeys, uneven paths, steps and weather-dependent activities. Confirm walking distances, fitness needs, alternatives and any required permits, especially for mountain or protected areas, before booking. Boats, cable cars and off-road transfers are included only when expressly agreed.

What your proposal will specify

Accommodation, transport, guiding, meals, tickets and special encounters are listed in the individual proposal. Publication of the itinerary confirms neither availability nor inclusion. Named hosts, Luminary, workshops and optional activities require separate confirmation.

What is considered separately

Unless your individual proposal states otherwise, international flights, visa expenses, insurance, personal purchases, single-room supplements, tips and additional activities are considered separately. Documentation and insurance requirements are checked against the programme actually selected.

How to get a quotation

The quotation is prepared for your group after confirming season, numbers, accommodation, guiding language, meals and special activities. The proposal specifies inclusions, supplements, confirmation steps and change conditions. Publishing an itinerary does not confirm a price or service availability.

Practical arrangements

Before booking, check entry requirements for each traveller’s nationality, current official advice, location restrictions, insurance, transport and payment arrangements. Acceptance of a particular foreign bank card is not promised. Required permits and expenses are identified in the agreed service list.

Before you enquire

This is a tailor-made itinerary outline. Dates, group composition and services are agreed before quotation and confirmation. Publication does not mean an open departure or reserved places.

The guiding language is specified in the proposal. International groups can request English; Hindi, Turkish, German and other languages require a separate availability check. Website translations do not confirm a guide in every language on every date.

Tell us your specific requirements: vegetarian or Jain meals, halal preferences, ingredient restrictions and allergies. We check the selected hotels and restaurants. The confirmed menu and preparation arrangements are agreed separately; preferences are never assumed from nationality.

Yes. Discuss thematic sessions, activities and time for your group. Host, venue, equipment, interpreting and schedule are confirmed separately. Evgenia Maslova or any other named author is not automatically included.

Include your company, source market, numbers, proposed dates and group requirements in the itinerary enquiry. WST’s partnership page is available for cooperation discussions. Commercial terms are agreed separately; this itinerary creates no new automatic discounts or commissions.

Let us shape your group’s journey

Tell us your group size, dates, language, interests and dietary requests. We will prepare a tailored itinerary outline and quotation.
